Our Chief Officer, Karen White together with Trustee Liz Fothergill attended the Almshouse Association’s first Members Day Conference on 05 June at the Haberdashers Hall in London. The event was attended by representatives from 97 almshouse charities throughout the country and provided a brilliant opportunity to network and share good practice. Guest speakers included Jon Sparkes the CEO of homeless charity Crisis and General Sir Mike Jackson, formerly chief of staff of the British Army. Topics for discussion on the day ranged from safeguarding to dispute resolution and a very interesting talk on a research project linking the benefits of almshouse living to wellbeing and ageing well.
